Beast is arguably the best restaurant in Portland. Numerous publications have given praise to the restaurant as one of the best in the city or country, and it certainly receives a lot of hype among Portland locals. Chef Naomi Pomeroy has been mentioned in Food and Wine Magazine and appeared on the T.V. show Top Chef Masters.

Mint is a Pan American Bistro in close-in North Portland. Its attached bar, called "820", offers the full Mint dinner menu as well as an excellent happy hour menu and wide selection of cocktails and wines. It has a somewhat upscale feel, with mostly black furnishings and an interestingly curved bar.

We are lucky to live in a time where the burger is becoming re-popularized. Restaurant burgers are finally starting to become more gourmet, with many restaurants featuring higher quality burgers than the average burger made at home. Creative Portland chefs make a variety of burger different types, ranging from traditional to exotic.

Portlanders are known for being outdoorsy. Ask most Portlanders what they like to do, and chances are you will get running, biking, hiking, climbing or snow sports as an answer. Although many locals simply go for a run or bike in Forest Park on their own, Portland also offers many athletic events that raise money for good causes. These fundraisers are a great way to meet people with similar interests, see the city, and push yourself to train a little bit harder.
