Although the Portland Timbers have just one season under their belt, they are already one of the most popular teams in Major League Soccer (MLS).  The Timbers play their home matches at JELD-WEN Field - a 20,000+ seat stadium well known for its unique European-style atmosphere.  The great atmosphere is due in large part to the Timbers fan club known as the Timbers Army.  The Timbers Army gathers in section 107 (also known as ”the Woodshed”) and are known for their constant chanting and cheering, drumming, flag waving, and occasional pyrotechnics following a Timbers goal.  About the only thing missing from Timbers games is looting and rioting from soccer hooligans. 

The Timbers open up the preseason with a home match against David Beckham and the L.A. Galaxy on Frebruary 7th, 2012. The Timbers will also be hosting a preseason 4 team soccer tournament at JELD-WEN Field from February 27th through March 4th, 2012.  The Tournament will feature Chivas USA, AIK, the San Jose Earthquakes, as well as the Timbers. 

First Kick 2012 for the Timbers will take place on March 12, 2012 against the Philadephia Union.  Other highly anticipated games include May 20 against the Chicago Fire, May 26th and August 25th against the Vancouver Whitecaps, June 24 and September 15th against the Seattle Sounders, July 14 against the LA Galaxy, and August 31 against the Colorado Rapids.
