Departure Restaurant and Lounge

Departure Restaurant and Lounge is located on the top floor of the Nines Hotel in early April 2009 serving modern Asian cuisine. With a combination of small plates representing everything from Asian street food-styled appetizers to rice and noodle specialties and the comfort food of the Japanese Izakayas, Departure is a masterful remix of authentic coastal cuisines. The sake and shochu list is one of the largest in the city and represents many hand-crafted, artisan producers. Departure boasts the design skills of Jeff Kovel of Skylab Architecture, one of Portland's leading architectural firms. The overall design of the 9,000 square-foot space added a 15th floor to the 1908 Meier & Frank building and offers diners two rooftop patios with views overlooking downtown Portland, the Willamette River, Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens.
