Portland Wedding Vendor Spotlight for July

This month I am so excited to share with you another fabulous florist here in Portland!  Not only is she from Belgium where she grew up playing in the Swiss Alps with her family and discovered the art of flower arranging by piecing together wild flowers in the base of old wooden logs for her mother (sounds like a movie, right?!), but Francoise of Francoise Weeks is a beautifully creative person just beaming with love for her craft.  I was so happy to meet with her in her own little studio in the back of her 100 year old house in South East Portland.  My senses were dazzled by each little part of her that grew and flourished around me.  What words would describe her love affair with flowers?    Passionate, magical and enraptured.  Doesn’t that say enough?!

Francoise thrives on using not just traditional bridal flowers, but expanding her search for beautifully unique foliage, herbs, fruits, moss, and natural wood to bring together a one-of-a-kind, personal wedding atmosphere for each individual bride.  Perhaps this quote that was left to her from her mother completes the picture perfectly:

If a man has two pennies he should buy a loaf of bread with one, which will sustain his life and a flower with the other, which will give him a reason to live.

Francoise is available for consultations by appointment only and her services including weddings, corporate events, and funeral arrangements.  She also teaches a professional wedding design course for aspiring floral designers.  Please contact her with any questions you may have—she may still have room left for even this 2009 wedding season!!
